NEWBIE PROTECTION

What is newbie protection?

Ce système de protection se divise en 2 catégories :

- On the start charts – X-1 – every user up to Level 6 will see their opponents on the mini map marked with an orange square. Only users from enemy companies will be shown with these squares. An NPC will continue to be displayed as usual.

- On the X-1 and X-2 maps all users have a danger display. This is located on the right side of the mini map. If a member of an enemy company jumps onto your map, the danger display rises. That way you can always see how dangerous it is on your map.

The display of enemies in orange boxes is only available on the X-1 maps. The system which displays enemies on X-1 in orange is only applicable up to Level 6. The danger display on X-1 and X-2 is independent of the level.

The time has finally come – the special quests will start right on time on October 3rd! You can accept the last mission on October 5th. All special quests will run exclusively on the European server.

With a little bit of luck and skill you’ll be able to achieve glory and honor – and in addition to that there are also a lot of great surprises awaiting you.

DarkOrbit: CPU Activity Symbol

Symbol for your drone repair CPU

Hello Space Pilots,

Starting immediately for owners of a drone-repair-CPU 1 there is a symbol located on the space map. If you own this type of CPU, but it isn’t listed in your current configuration, a little orange icon with a yellow exclamation point will appear on the left in the mini map.

As soon as the CPU is active, the icon will turn turquoise and the exclamation point will disappear.

These include: A slot CPU which makes more room for extras, a lab CPU which boosts your weapons and a jump CPU which allows you to return immediately to your home base from many different locations. DarkOrbit: Update Keyboard Configuration

React lightning fast: Control central functions from your keyboard!

Hello Space Pilot,

In order to provide you with more fun in space, we have made some changes to the keyboard configuration. Effective immediately, you can control additional functions from your keyboard.

What’s new? For starters:

- For a better overview: turn off the menu from the keyboard (H key)
- Change your ammunition from the keyboard with the number keys 1,2,3,4 and 5
- Change your rockets faster with the keys E, R and T

These and many other functions can now be performed lightning fast from your keyboard. Further keyboard shortcuts and other information can be found, as usual, in the forum.

Changes in the penalty system and a new quest to save your honor!

Greetings Space Pilot,

To make it easier for new players to enter the game, the penalty system in DarkOrbit has been changed. Did you collect the wrong things a few times, and now your honor is at an all time low? That can happen: To save your honor, complete a special quest which will earn you a whole lot of positive honor points. Who wants to travel through space as an outlaw anyway?

It’s finally here. The long-awaited update went online today. The changes affect the new fine system, and the clan area concerning wars and diplomacy have been expanded – e.g. your clan tags will now be diplomatically coloured on the maps.

Clan management at DarkOrbit

New: Now you can make changes yourself!

Once again we have listened to you and turned your suggestion into reality: effective immediately you can change your clan name and clan tag yourself. That way you can correct any errors which might have crept in, and the clan leader can make tactical name changes as needed.

DarkOrbit: Box timers and other improvements

New at DarkOrbit: Cargo box timers and higher penalties for company kills!

Grab the cargo boxes! Starting shortly, these boxes will be colored and will carry a timer which shows if collecting them carries a penalty. If the timer has expired, you can grab the boxes without any penalty.

And another thing: a company kill will carry a much higher penalty for you! So consider very carefully whom you attack. You will find a discussion about this topic in our forum, and you are invited to make any suggestions you have about the upcoming update.
